Dring summer season car ferries leave from Piombino to Portoferraio almost hourly. There are also a couple of daily ferries to Rio Marina and Cavo. The shipping companies are Toremar, Moby, Blu Navy and Corsica Ferries.
The crossing Piombino-Portoferraio takes one hour (40 minutes by Corsica Ferries).
A hydrofoil service (no cars), which arrives only in Portoferraio, takes 35 minutes.
Fom the North of Italy from Milano take the A1 motorway, change to the A15 at Parma Ovest to join the A12 Genova-Livorno exit later at Rosignano. Continue on dual-carriageway as far as right-hand sign to " Venturina/Isola d'Elba". Continue on the main road until you reach Piombino Marittima/Portoferraio.
From the North -East: Take the A1 motorway Bologna-Firenze-Pisa-Livorno exit later at Rosignano and continue as above.
From the South: take the A12 Roma-Grosseto, continue on the main road "the Aurelia": exit at Venturina-Isola d'Elba then follow as above for Piombino.
The airline Silver Air flies all year round from the destinations of Pisa, Florence, Milan Linate and Lugano (during the summer time) to Marina di campo (Elba) offering great connections from the main European airports. Airport is 7 km far away from our hotel in locality La Pila.
